Start with the system and the site
Exterior Design offers ACP, fluted and smart roofing. Compare how you want the space to look and function, then confirm the complete construction and installation scope for the site.
By an aluminium fluted panel awning we mean fixed overhead cover built from profiled aluminium panels, not a retractable fabric awning, so use the fluted column below. Exterior Design supplies and installs aluminium fluted roofing in Singapore, including the fluted canopy over a balcony shown on our fluted roofing page. We confirm the profile, frame, finish, drainage and installation scope for the individual site.
On a small screen, scroll the table sideways to compare each option.

Both do the same job
Composite panel and fluted aluminium roofing both provide fixed overhead cover. The panel specification, supporting frame, span, fixings and drainage must be confirmed for the individual site. A photograph or material name alone does not establish the structural requirements.
Compare the specified construction as well as the appearance and installed price. Two quotations can describe similar-looking roofs while including different frame, drainage or finishing work.
Composite panel reads as a ceiling
A composite panel roof is flat underneath. Panels run the full span, so what you see from below is one continuous plane rather than a row of sheets. Fixings are not exposed. Fan mounts and downlights are set out before the panels go up and sit flush in the surface.
That flat plane is the reason people pick it. It reads as a ceiling rather than as a shelter, which is what you want when the space is an extension of the room behind it. Compare complete quotations for the same area, frame, drainage and finish rather than assuming the material name determines the lower installed price.
The trade is that it is quiet. A flat plane does not draw attention, and if you wanted the roof to be a feature of the elevation it will not do that for you.
Fluted reads as architecture
Fluted panels are profiled, so the roof is a run of ribs. In sun those ribs throw a shadow line across the whole span and the roof becomes part of how the building looks rather than something added to it.
It sits naturally alongside fluted screens and slatted timber-look joinery, which is why it turns up on newer landed builds where that language is already on the facade.
A profiled panel creates a stronger visual statement. Compare the installed quotation for the specified panel, frame, drainage and finish, alongside how the roof fits the rest of your exterior.
Check the Smart Roof configuration
The ALU-R Pro catalogue describes Smart Roof as an aluminium roof system using insulated fluted panels with beams and gutters. This panel-based system provides fixed overhead cover. If you want an opening-louvre roof, identify that different configuration and its operating mechanism in the quotation.
Compare the selected panels or infill, frame, edges, drainage and written aftercare. Where an opening mechanism is requested, compare its hardware, controls and maintenance terms separately. A panel finish and a complete roof system describe different parts of the job.
What decides it on a real job
Look up at the eave line of your house and ask what the roof will sit next to. If the facade is flat render and calm, a flat panel roof disappears into it correctly. If the facade already has ribs, slats or fluted screens, a fluted roof continues the line and a flat one interrupts it.
Then look at the underside. If you will be standing under this thing every evening, the ceiling finish matters more than the top surface does, and that is an argument for composite panel.
Send us a photo of the space and the elevation. We will tell you which one we would put there and why, including when the answer is the cheaper one.
