Short answers, and a plain no when the honest answer is that a figure is not confirmed yet.

What makes fluted roofing different from a flat panel roof?

The panel is profiled, so the roof reads as a run of ribs and throws a shadow line across the span. On shelter the two are equivalent; fluted is the choice when you want the roof to be part of the elevation.

Does the profile affect how rain runs off?

The ribs run to the drainage edge and carry water to it. Fall and drainage are set out on the frame at design stage, the same as on a flat panel roof.

Where does fluted roofing look wrong?

On a calm rendered facade with no other profile on it, a fluted roof can be the loudest element on the elevation. If the rest of the house is quiet, a flat composite panel roof usually sits better.
