What it looks like finished

Sized to the building, not bolted on.

The louvres rotate on a motorised spine, so one structure gives you an open courtyard or a dry room. What makes it read as part of the house is the frame being set out to the existing structure.

What is the difference between a Smart Roof and a fixed roof?

The louvres rotate on a motorised spine, so one structure gives you an open courtyard when the weather is good and a dry room when it is not. A fixed composite panel or fluted roof gives you permanent cover and has no moving parts.

Is a Smart Roof worth it over a fixed roof?

It costs more and it has a motor to maintain. Worth it when the space is a room you actually live in and you want the sky some of the time. Hard to justify on a drying yard or a utility area, where a fixed roof does the job for less.

Can it be built onto an existing house?

Yes. The frame is set out to the existing structure, picking up the eave height so the roof follows the house rather than sitting on top of it. That set-out is what makes an extension read as part of the building.
