Honest fit check

Where ZipNice earns its keep — and where it doesn't.

It's the right call when…

  • Wind-driven rain keeps hitting your balcony
  • You want protection without losing the view or airflow
  • You want a cleaner, tighter alternative to roller blinds
  • The balcony is a daily-use space — plants, laundry, reading corner

Look elsewhere when…

  • You need a sealed, insulated room — a blind screens the weather, it does not close a space off
  • The opening is an unusual shape — send a photo, we'll tell you straight
  • You only need sun shading indoors — indoor blinds will do it cheaper
What it looks like finished

The zip edge is what you are buying.

The fabric edge runs inside a side track, so the blind cannot flap or gap at the sides. That is the difference between an outdoor blind and a patio curtain, and it is why it holds in wind and rain.

Questions

The questions we actually get.

Short answers, and a plain no when the honest answer is that a figure is not confirmed yet.

Do you install balcony zip blinds for Singapore homes?
Yes. Exterior Design supplies and installs ZipNice outdoor zip blinds for balcony and patio openings in Singapore. We assess the opening and fixing surfaces before confirming a suitable manual or motorised system.
How are outdoor zip blinds different from indoor roller blinds?
Zip blinds guide the fabric edges inside side tracks across an outdoor opening. Indoor roller blinds serve a different purpose and should not be treated as a substitute for an outdoor system. Zip blinds also do not replace a roof above an uncovered patio.
What should I send for a motorised zip blind quotation?
Send photos of each opening, its approximate width and drop, the number of openings and your property type. Let us know whether there is an existing roof or overhead slab, and whether you prefer manual or motorised operation. Final dimensions and installation details are confirmed before the job.
What does the zip in zip blind actually do?
The fabric edge is welded into a zip that runs inside the side track, so the screen cannot lift, flap or gap at the sides. That is the difference between an outdoor blind and a patio curtain, and it is why it holds in wind.
Will I still have a view with the blinds down?
With a one percent openness fabric, yes. The published specification for that fabric is 26 percent polyester and 74 percent PVC, 600 g per square metre, with UV screening up to 99 percent. A zero percent fabric blocks the view entirely and is the privacy choice.
Do they stop rain completely?
Dropped and tracked on both sides they take the great majority of wind-driven rain. They are a screen in a track rather than a sealed window, so in a heavy squall expect some spray at the bottom bar.
Manual or motorised?
Both are available. Motorised options include A-OK, Dooya and Somfy Maestria 50 RTS, with obstacle and overload detection built in. The spring version has a built-in balancer. Which one suits depends on the drop height and how often the blind moves.

One photo is all it takes.
